"Top of the Morning" News

6th of MAY 2013

Congratulations to Alex Riba, O'Fallon High School senior, Texas A & M University recruit, and a Toolen's Running Start employee. Alex ran a 4:10 in the 1600 meter and shattered the 7 year-old record set by Charlie Hatch. The previous record was 4:14:1 set in 2006. Alex's teammate--Pat Perrier--also broke the record finishing in 4:13:6 for 2nd place.

Yesterday was a very tragic and sad day. People who trained so hard to get to the Boston marathon and to have this happen. To see three people killed and over 130 injured, and countless runners see their dream fall apart is worse than terrible. Anyone who has completed the Boston marathon knows what it means to make that last left turn and see the finish line just ahead. To hear the crowd get louder as you approach the Finish Line Banner is something that you never forget. It's really sad to see so many dreams destroyed. Hopefully, they will have another chance to finish the Boston Marathon.

Congratulations to all of the finishers in the GO! Half or Full Marathon.

Have a Happy and Safe Easter!!!!!

Congratulations to Mary Jo Jalinsky,  Jan Daker,  Dennis Hatch, and Tami Hayen for completing the Green Bay Marathon yesterday. They all enjoyed the race and recommend to everyone that wants to run a flat course with great support and the chance to run inside the home of the Green Bay Packers!

Also there were a lot of races over the weekend with a large group of runners from Running Stat that brought  awards home with them. Go to the results from the race from Swansea to see the winners!

Good Luck to everyone that is traveling to Green Bay for the Marathon. Hopefully, by Sunday, it will be NOT raining!

15th April

Congratulations to all of the finishers in the Half and Full Marathon in St. Louis. It was a warm that day and for some reason, a lot more hills. The new course eliminated the confusion for the top runners, but it also included more hills.

Good luck to everyone that is traveling to Boston this weekend for the Boston marathon on Monday the 19th of April. They are currently counting on rain, but hopefully they are wrong and it will only be cloudy. Enjoy the your race if that's possible!!!!!

Also on Saturday the 17th of April, there is a 5K race in O'Fallon at the high school. It's the Get Fit, Stay Fit 5K Run/Walk that starts at 8:20 a.m. Good Luck!

6th of April

Good Luck to everyone that is running the full or half  this coming Sunday at the Go! St. Louis Marathon. The course has changed a little and should be less confusion on the last mile. The weather forecast looks good right now. But it is still six days away and it could change at least 5 times between now and Sunday.

24th March

It's official as of 23 March 2010...the Chicago Marathon set for 10/10/10 is now closed. All 45.000 registrations has been taken except for a few applicants available for charity organizations. You might want to go to Marathontours.com to get a room and also a registration for the marathon.

A race in Forest Park on this coming Saturday the 27th of March is called the Undy 500 5K race. It benefits colo-rectal cancer. One of our running group has a relative that has this cancer. If you want to join their team, it is called "Baer Bottoms".

Another race that is approaching on the 2nd of May at Union Station is the 18th Annual Run for Sight. This race is one that is close to our Eller family. They would really appreciate it if you would join the "Caden Crew"...Thanks!

16th March 2010

The AOH 2010 race results are now available under race results!!!

If you have thoughts of completing in the Chicago Marathon on 10/10/10, they are about to cap the race. In about another week or so, they will probably reach the goal of 45,000 participants.

15th March 2010

Finally, the biggest two races of the year are completed. We had record numbers at both races---the Hiberian Run will had 1300 people and the St. Patrick's Day run in St. Louis had 12000 runners. Some outstanding performances in both races.

Coming up for the next couple weekends are a number of races. Every Saturday, there are at least two races that you can pick from.

The race results for the Hiberian run will ne posted this week.

I would like to thank all of the volunteers for the 11th Annual AOH race. Without them, it would have never been so successful!.....THANKS!!!

There is going to be a new course for the St. Patrick's Day Race in St. Louis on the 13th of March...a week after the Hiberian run at the store. My race is the same course and I expect a bigger crowd this year. Last year we had 904 entries. The St. Patrick's Day Race directions is as follows:

The Run begins on Broadway, between Walnut & Clark Streets. It proceeds north to Pine Street, then west to Tucker, and quickly south to Market. Runners continue west on Market to Compton Ave. Turning right, the Run goes northward to Olive Street, where it turns and heads east. It continues east to Broadway, where it turns south for a 500 meter downhill sprint to the finish. The Run is 5 miles long.

9th January 2010

Hopefully, this cold weather will soon be gone. However, if you are still running outside, don't forget to put something on your face--vaseline or bodyglide to eliminate frostbite.
