Hi Folks,
Just in case you missed it, we had a number of outstanding performances on
Sunday. First, in the marathon, two (almost three) people had PRs. Carl Florczyk ran
3:26:38 and Tom Hootselle ran a 4:00:32...PRs for both of them and Tom beat his previous
time by 54 minutes!!! Tom Romano ran a great time of 3:19:31, Lisa Brandt ran a 4:09:37,
Alan (Art's brother) Sheridan ran a 5:08:26. Matt Wilson had a time of 3:29:10 Good Job,Matt!!
I think that was a PR for Matt, but his time was listed under the Half-Marathon times....I guess
they made a mistake somewhere......Tom Romano finished in 5th place in his age group!
In the Half, Angie Jenny ran a 1:32:52 for 2nd in her age group and 19th female overall.
Daryl Morrison ran 1:31:40 for 10th in his age group, Kirk ran a1:49:15, Art finished in
1:55:20, Tim couldn't run, but Becky took his number and finished in 2:15:08 without falling,
Matt Wilson's wife Jennifer finished in 2:47:45. I couldn't find an official time for Rodney and
Jeremy......but I think Rodney's time was around 1:34.....
Congratulations to all of the finishers!!!
4-1-08 (Another Finisher----and it's NOT an April Fool's Joke)
We had another finisher early this morning. Molly Sue Farrell came in 1st place
at the time of 6:00 am weighing in at 8 lbs. 4 oz. and 20.5" long. Mom and Dad
are doing great.....and quite happy! I think Becky might say she ran about a
dozen ultramarathons in these last couple weeks!!! Congratulations to Mike
and Becky and to Molly Sue!!!
Good Luck to everyone that is running the half or full on Sunday. Looks like the
weather is going to cooperate and be pretty decent. I did read that they are
going to have aid stations every 3 miles....just so they don't go thru what
Chicago did last October.....good thing the weather forecast is for a high of 58
and not 85!!!!
Have a Great Week!
Mike

finished in 3:48:26.......due to a stress fracture, Becky could not run the marathon. Congrats to Daryl, Mark, and Becky!!!
Tuesday night I am going with my granddaughter trick or tricking in Wood River!
Therefore, we will have to skip speedwork tonight night...sorry about that!!!
9-27-07

the marathon that you are planning to run!!! I will put out a list for everyone to keep track of our performances!!
9-17-07
It was a great weekend to run, right?? For all of the Chicago marathons participants, it was
our last 20 miler..... A lot of us ran yesterday at the Lewis & Clark 1/2 marathon in St. Charles.
And what a surprise...a traffic jam before the race and the race delayed for 15 minutes...
The course did change but nothing else did. They even forgot the awards for the top 3 male and female
in both races...so, that means that Mike Farrell will be accepting his 1st place overall trophy in the mail.
Other age group awards were Angie Jenny for 1st, Candace Caveny for 1st, Becky Bradley for 1st,
Jan Daker for 2nd, Steve Chorma for 1st, and Tom Romano for 3rd. Plus, the age group winners,
we had at least eight people that had PRs....and hopefully, I did not miss anyone....Lisa Brandt,
Kathy Eller, Dan Hepp ( unofficial), Candace, Tracy Johnson, Matt Wilson, Pat Masching, Kirk Brueggeman....
As far as I know, Rick Sherman was the only one from the store that ran the full. Rick finished in 3:36.
Good Job!!!
Dewey Barsaloux completed the Rochester marathon last weekend.
He finished in 3:10:42....good enough for 29th overall and 4th in the age group.
Good Job!
This coming weekend, there are three races---two on Saturday and the most important on Sunday.
The 5K Italianfest is in Collinsville, and the Hills and Hollows 1/2 marathon and 5K is in Valmeyer!
Then on Sunday is the "Race To The Courthouse" in Nashville, IL. Dennis Hatch is Race Director and
he is expecting all of us to be there. The race starts at 7:30, and something about breakfast afterwards.
You can ask Dennis on Tuesday night.......
Tomorrow night at speedwork the weather should be a little warm and nothing like last Tuesday. But this
is our last hard workout before Chicago, and then it is really taper time!!!
Have a great week and enjoy the warm weather again!
9-10-07
We need to congratulate everyone on their performances this weekend.....
On Saturday at the Popeye's 5K race, Mary Jo and Dan Hepp both conquered
3rd place overall.......Matt Espenchied got 2nd in age group, and Tom Romano
and myself captured 1st place in our age groups.
On Sunday, a lot of folks did great at the Biathlon in Millstadt---Mike Eller
took 1st in his age group in 1:45:56, Darryl Morrison took 2nd in his age
group in a time of 1:43:44, and Kathy Eller did a great job and got 2nd in
her age group in a time of 1:56:03..........Tom Hootselle and Tom Romano
did not place in their age groups but had a good time.....Seth Jenny ran on
a team and finished 3rd in the run and for the team finished 2nd place for
the male team!!!
And our friend, Zac Freudenburg participated in the World Championships
in Switzerland this past weekend and finished 8th overall---positioning himself
as one of the top mountain runners in the world.
This weekend a lot of us are running in the Lewis & Clark 1/2 marathon to get
out LAST 20 miler in for the upcoming marathon in October.......don't forget the
course is different with completely different starting and finishing areas....I guess
we will have to come back to the start where our cars will be to tailgate!!! The race
starts at 6:45, and with 5000 runners should be very interesting. Good Luck to
everyone that will be racing!!
I almost forget............congrats to Bob Petz and his sister Susan, and her friend Donna.
They finished the 1/2 marathon yesterday in Chicago. Bob finished in 1:32:xx, and said
the humidity was terrible and people were dropping like flies!!! Sounds like St. Louis weather.
Also for the biggest trophy from this weekend, Mike and Kathy Eller won the "Last Man Standing"
trophy at the Millstadt Biathlon. They are both very proud of their trophy, and they can explain
how they won..............
Have a great week!
8-27-07
Congratulations to everyone that raced this weekend......
At the 5K race in Waterloo, Dan Hepp came in 2nd overall in a time of 16:46 (good thing he didn't race the Tiki Trot last weekend, his time would have been
a little slower), and Tom Romano came in 2nd place in his age group.
(more results)
At the 5K Kirchenfest in Highland, Candace came in first female overall, Becky
Bradley was 3rd overall and second in her age group and Mary Jo was 3rd in
the age group, Pam Campbell was 1st in her age group, Bob Petz was 2nd in
his age group, and Neil was 2nd and I was 1st in our age group.
In Louisville at the Ironman, Andy Brendel finished in 9:58:21 (38th overall), Tom Jackson was 3 seconds behind Andy in 9:58:24 (39th), Tina Stiles was at 10:36:08 (91st overall), and Jim Westhead finished in 11:41:25 (273rd).
Chris Arnold finished the Ironman in Canada but I don't have a time for him, but I think he set a PR.
Can't believe it, but it is suppose to be hot tomorrow for speedwork and we already have people running in the
morning.....so, it looks like we just might be going out to dinner for Mary Jo's birthday.
There are two races this weekend---Sunday in St. Libory a 5K that starts at 8:30, and on Monday in Kinmundy
a 5K that starts 8:00........I think the JCCA still has their 5K and 10K races on Monday morning also.
It's our 2nd to last 20 ,miler coming up this weekend......I know Mary Jo is running on Friday with Becky Bradley
in Edwardsville. But that's the only one that is scheduled. I'll try to find out when everyone is running, and put
out another email later in the week.
Have a great week!
8-23-07
Wanted to remind everyone about the Highland race on Saturday...It starts at 8:00......I think we have a
large number going to the race even that Fast guy from Nashville.
For the long run this weekend, there are some people running on Sunday morning at 6:00 on the Metro Trail
from SWIC....12 or 15 miles.
Some of us will be running at Forest Park from the Visitor's Center starting at 7:00 for 12 miles.
This is our easy week before our third 20 miler next weekend.
Good Luck to the folks going to the Ironman down in Louisville this weekend!
Congratulations to everyone that raced last weekend. I know Kathy and Mike ran a triathlon in O'Fallon, MO. and both
had excellent times with Kathy finishing in 3rd place in her age group...and with a little problem on the bike. She can
explained it better than me.
At the Tiki Trot Race in Hecker, there were a lot of awards---Bob Petz was 2nd overall, Candace was 1st female finisher
and 3rd overall, Art was 3rd in his age group, Dennis was 3rd in his, and Dewey was 1st in his.......and we had two
runners that have not raced in a while ...Seth Jenny and with a mad dash in the last 20 yards, and Bill Kurtz who ran with his oldest
grandson and finished in great shape!!!
Bob Petz also ran the race in Columbia, IL. on Saturday morning.....he ran the 10K race but don't remember his time.....sorry, Bob!
Next Tuesday providing it's not 100 degrees again, a number of people wants to go to dinner for Mary Jo's Birthday....which is
on Monday. So, don't forget!
8-13-07
This is really hard to believe, but since we have another heat warning for tomorrow, I don't think
it will be healthy to run tomorrow night at 5:30. So, if you want to do some speed work, you
need to run early in the morning or late at night...It was a little cooler this morning, but the humidity
was still bad. And tomorrow is going to be a lot worse. So, hopefully, the next Tuesday the 21st,
we can run again at 5:30.
Don't forget Tom's race on this coming Saturday night. The Hecker "Tiki" Trot starts at 8:30 in
downtown Hecker. The course is going to be lined with torches..should be a lot of fun and they
advertise as having the coldest beer around...maybe a long night!!
Also on the 25th of August is the 25th running of the St.Paul Strassenlauf Kirchenfest in
Highland, IL starting at 8:00..
Both races are 5Ks....
Hope you have a great week!
Mike

First, I would like to congratulate everyone that ran the Mississippi Mile last Saturday. I heard some pretty good times, but I don't have all of the times. But I know that they just put the times on the Track Club's Web Site.....
Since our float trip is this weekend and it is a light long run on our schedules, some of us are running tomorrow morning. And then this weekend.
I know that Mary Jo and Tammy are running from the Metro Trail at SWIC on Saturday at 6:30......
Lynn and Becky are running on Sunday from the Belleville Station on the Metro Trail at 5:30....I think everyone
is going 12 miles.......
Don't forget that the 5K at the VA Hospital in St. Louis is on Saturday morning starting at 7:25....it's called "Sweat with the Vets" and Jean Feguson is
the race director!!!
On the next Saturday is Mud Mountain at SIUE. That 5K starts at 9:00.
I still have the bus that is going to Chicago for the Chicago marathon. Seems like we are losing people for the bus, so please call me if you are
planning to ride the bus. Thanks!
Have a Great weekend!
Mike

he said it took a while before he stopped throwing up!!! They both are really excited!
This Friday night if anyone is interested, a couple of us are going to the
"Party in the Park" at Fairmount Park. Hopefully, someone will go early and
save a big table. Let me know if you are interested.
On the racing scene this past weekend, a number of significant events occurred. On Saturday in Freeburg,

in Bob's age group. Tom Hootselle had a PR in 21:36.
On Sunday at the YMCA connection run in Kirkwood another couple PRs......Dan Hepp finished in 16:51 for his PR.
And Candace Caveny ran a 17:40 and beat her PR by 55 seconds. Also finished 3rd

his time) and I finished 2nd in the age group in 19:05..... Looks like we
will be staying at the Courtyard at Tremont for the Boston trip next year. I
